Easiest No-Knead Focaccia Bread (Vegan)

Focaccia is an oven baked flat Italian bread that is leavened with yeast. Today I am sharing a recipe for a no-knead Focaccia bread which I have flavored with garlic, sea salt , and chilli flakes!!

For me, a simple herb and salt focaccia tastes so delicious when served warm with a glass wine or coffee.
If you crave the taste of oven fresh bread but do not want to go through the hassle of kneading or shaping it, this one is for you!!

Making this bread requires zero skills....just mix, let it rise overnight while you sleep and bake the next day. It can be topped with toppings of your choice!! The texture is soft, light and satisfyingly chewy... you will be surprised you made it with so much ease 🤩

It is Vegan and can be shaped free - form into a rectangular or a circular baking dish.

This bread continues to be my favorite because it is so easy to make yet so dang good!!! The smell of freshly baked bread is just so good 😋

Lets get started!!!!

Notes

1. To see if the dough is proofed enough, poke it with your finger. It should spring back slowly, leaving a small visible indentation. If it springs back too quickly, the dough isn’t ready.

2. Dimple the dough all over with your fingers, creating very deep indentations in the dough (reach your fingers all the way to the bottom of the pan).

3. Allowing the dough to rest overnight or for 24 hours in the refrigerator will yield extra pillowy and airy focaccia.

4. Cold refrigerated dough is the secret to making delicious focaccia.

5. Top the focaccia with toppings of your choice  ( capsicum, onion, tomatoes etc )

6. The dough should be well hydrated.

7.Make sure to activate your yeast properly....I am using instant rapid rise, which doesn't need to be bloomed in water.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of bread flour / all purpose flour

  • 1 to 1 1/8 cup warm water

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp rapid rise instant yeast ( I am using Fleischmann's)

  • 3-4 tbsp olive oil

  • Flavorings:

    • Garlic Powder

    • Chilli Flakes

    • Italian Seasoning

    • Sea Salt

Procedure

1. In a big bowl take flour, sugar, and salt. Give it a mix. Now add 1 tsp of instant rapid rise yeast and again mix.

2. Add warm water and make a sticky dough using spatula...

3. Cover and let the dough rest overnight in the refrigerator

4. Now transfer the proofed dough into a nicely greased pan ( I am using a 9 inch nonstick round pan greased with olive oil)

Cover and let it rise at room temperature for 2-3 hours

5. Finally add 2-3 tbsp of olive oil and dimple the dough all over with your fingers, creating very deep indentations in the dough (reach your fingers all the way to the bottom of the pan).

Top with seasoning of choice ( I have used garlic powder, Italian seasoning ,chilli flakes, and sea salt )

6. Bake in a preheated 420 F / 210 C for 20- 25 min

7. Serve warm with some coffee, tea, or wine
