This 100% whole wheat eggless bread is faintly sweet and delightfully soft. This recipe is very easy to bake with a perfect result every time. The bread texture is perfect to be enjoyed in a sandwich or just like that. It is definitely a healthier alternative to white bread because of all the benefits of whole grain.

Yield: One standard size loaf.
Prep Time: 90 minutes for prep and proofing
Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup milk powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp instant dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 and 1/2 cup warm water
Procedure

1. In a bowl take whole wheat flour, salt and yeast.

 2. In another bowl, whisk milk powder, sugar and water.

 3. Mix the dry and  wet ingredients to make a soft dough.

 4. Let the dough rise in a warm spot for 1 hour. ( If you are using the instant pot like I am, do it on Medium Yogurt setting. )

5. After 1 hour, punch down the dough and add  room temperature soft butter. Knead well for about 5-10 minutes. This is important to make the bread soft and airy.

6. Transfer it to a lined loaf pan. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

7. After the dough has risen,  brush the top of the loaf with some milk. Bake in the oven at 350F / 180C for 30 minutes.

8. After the bread is done, let it rest and cool before taking it out from the pan.

9.  Ready to slice and enjoy.
